As South Sudan debates its 2025/26 fiscal plan, disability advocates are seeking clarity on whether adequate resources have been set aside for their community.
Augustino Wudu Elario questioned lawmakers about the existence of specific financial allocations for disability programs. He stressed that South Sudan’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities obligates the government to take concrete steps toward inclusion.
According to Wudu, the absence of dedicated funding risks perpetuating poverty and limiting access to services for persons with disabilities. He called for investment in mobility aids, hearing devices, and entrepreneurship support.
Finance Ministry officials responded that allocations are made through various ministries rather than through a single dedicated envelope.
The matter remains part of broader budget deliberations focused on equitable distribution of public resources.
